A Stunning Backdrop to a Sporty Location

As a wedding photographer, I love capturing engagement photos in beautiful natural settings, and do my best to seek those places out so when I plan sessions with my clients I can recommend some great spots. However, my most recent engagement session took me by surprise!

One of my couples asked me if we could do their engagement photos by Gillette Stadium. If you're not a native to New England or not really into sports, you may be wondering what's so special about Gillette Stadium.

This place is home to one of New England's greatest prides and a world-famous football team, The New England Patriots.

I recalled the bride mentioning that she and her fiancé are both really into football and I assumed she wanted a sport-themed session. I've seen some very cute sporty engagement sessions before and thought this was what she wanted.

Well it turns out this couple actually had something very nature-oriented in mind. The bride told me of a beautiful pond surrounded by a nature trail, sitting right in the shadow of the stadium! As someone who grew up in New England and knew so many people who absolutely loved this sports team, I was surprised I had not once heard any of my friends and family discuss this location.

The nature trail and cranberry bog at Patriot Place in Foxborough, MA, is now one of my favorite spots. With its stunning scenery and unique features, it's the perfect location for a springtime engagement session. Here's what you can expect from the location and some tips for getting the most out of your photoshoot.

The nature trail at Patriot Place is a scenic .5-mile path that winds through wooded terrain, wetlands, and open fields. It's a peaceful and relaxing location, and during the springtime, it comes alive with new growth and vibrant colors. The trees start to bud, and the light shines through the clouds reflecting off the pond water, making it the perfect place for an outdoor lover's session.

One of the highlights of the nature trail is the cranberry bog, which is located about halfway down the trail. The bog is a working cranberry farm maintained by the Ocean Spray Cranberry Company. During the spring, the bog is in its dormant phase, but it still provides a unique and picturesque backdrop for photos. The wooden boardwalks that cross over the bog create a rustic and natural look, which is perfect for engagement photos.

When planning your springtime engagement session at the nature trail and cranberry bog, there are a few things to keep in mind. Firstly, consider the weather. Spring in New England can be unpredictable, so you may want to dress in layers and bring an umbrella in case of rain.

Secondly, think about the time of day. The best lighting for photos is during the "golden hour," which is the hour before sunset when the light is soft and warm. This time of day also provides a romantic and intimate ambiance, perfect for engagement photos.

When it comes to outfits, I recommend sticking to soft pastels or earthy tones that complement the springtime scenery. A flowing sundress or a light sweater with jeans works well for women, while men can wear a button-down shirt with khaki pants or jeans.

In conclusion, the nature trail and cranberry bog at Patriot Place is a beautiful and unique location for a springtime engagement session. With its stunning scenery and natural features, it provides the perfect backdrop for romantic and intimate photos. So if you're a couple in the Foxborough, MA area, I highly recommend this location for your next photoshoot!
